Heavy Rain and Large Puddles can effect your car!

Storms are not uncommon in Saskatchewan and can dump large amounts of rain in a short period of time, flooding underpasses and leaving unexpected dangerous driving conditions.

Here are some precautions you should take.

Underpasses

After a rain plan your route! Under passes, can fill with water quickly and can be deeper than they appear. We see it time and time again. People drive into underpasses after a rain and have to be rescued from their vehicle because the vehicle stalls. This can cause serious contamination to fluids by entering differentials, transmissions, transfer cases, etc leading to unnecessary costs.

Large Puddles

Hitting large puddles can also harm your vehicle. Water can enter the engine compartment and damage electrical that can be expensive to repair. Another problem that can occur is the cold water can quickly cool such things as exhaust components causing them to warp or crack. Another issue that can arise is as the car goes trough the water the tires can loose traction (Hydroplane) and the force of the water under the vehicle can limit the control to steer the vehicle, possibly causing a collision.

Some times these things are not avoidable. If you have gone through deep water and are unsure if you may have future issues with your vehicle. It's always best to have your vehicle checked out at your favorite Repair facility to avoid costly repairs down the road.
